Scott's first Father's Day

It was so exciting celebrating Scott's first Father's day! I cannot tell you how blessed Clayton and I are to have such a wonderful man to care for us. I am so thankful that Clayton has a father to teach him to be a good man, and love and support him throughout his life. I just love watching the two of them interact with one another...they bring the biggest smiles to each other's faces...smiles that light up a room and put tears in my eyes. The love and bond between them is already so strong, I can see how close they are and will always be. Happy Father's Day Scott, thank you for being such a wonderful father and husband...we are truly blessed to have you in our lives!

We started out Father's day by bringing Scott breakfast from McDonalds, followed by Clayton giving Daddy the Dharma shirts he wanted (he is a huge fan of the show Lost). Scott requested matching Daddy and son Dharma shirts. We also surprised him with tickets to one of his favorite bands...Kings of Leon. Then, we were off to the driving range to hit some golf balls, and we met Grandpa and Uncle Brian at Hooters for dinner! All in all it was a great day!

One very important person was missing from our Father's Day celebration, my dad (Clayton's Pops). Although he was not with us in person, he is with us every single day, watching over us. Clayton will know his Pops because we surround him with memories and I tell him about him everyday. I know that my dad had something to do with blessing us with Clayton. I see my dad in him more and more everyday....his big blue eyes, his smile, and his charming personality...all wonderful attributes he inherited from his Pops. We will make sure that we do all of the things my dad would have wanted to do with him like taking him fishing and teaching him to play guitar on my dad's guitar. Clayton has a blanket made of my dad's shirts and a bear wearing a shirt made from my dad's shirt. He was such a huge part of my life, the best dad in the entire world and he will be a huge part of Clayton's life as well...I only wish he were here in person because believe me...you wouldn't have been able to keep him away from this little boy. He would have been CRAZY for him, and spending time with him as much as he possibly could...because that is what he did with me. Happy Father's Day to my dad and Clayton's Pops...we love you and miss you every second of every minute of every hour of every day!

Bathtime Upgrade...

My baby is growing so fast! He has been taking baths in the mud sink in the laundry room since he was born, but he has gotten so long he doesn't quite fit in there any longer. He LOVES bathtime and was beginning to push off the walls with his feet splashing himself in the face. I can tell he is going to be a little fish because he loves the water and not even water in the face bothers this little guy. So, we are moving on to the big bath tub. Here are some pictures of him in the mud sink and now in the big boy tub :)

All caught up...onto the beginning of Month 5...Wow he is growing so fast!

This month Clayton has become quite the character...he "talks" to us all the time, his expressions are simply priceless, and he loves to grab, chew, and discover everything he sees. He has discovered his toes, his favorite toy I might add, and can now roll from back to front. He has been in his baby pool that his Grammy Dawn got for him, walked in the relay for life for Grandpa (my dad), went to the zoo with lots of friends, and celebrated his Great Granny's 85th birthday :)

Month 4 Highlights

This month Clayton weighed in at 13.3 lbs and 24 3/4 inches. I beginning to think he might get my dad's height! I celebrated my very first mother's day...what an honor! Clayton ate cereal for the first time, didn't like it too much. He gagged and his Daddy made the comment that he looked like his Mommy trying something new...Ha Ha! He began reaching for our faces, and eating vegetables and fruits, Bananas seem to be the favorite so far!

Month 3 Highlights

Wow...every month he surprises and amazes us. Scott and I find joy in each and every little thing that he does. Sometimes we find ourselves just sitting and staring at him and watching his every move. We never get tired of seeing that gorgeous smile, and we still giggle every time he giggles. Our hearts are overflowing with love for this little boy. This month he went to see his cousin Kaitlyn sing at the Bunny Breakfast where he sat on the Easter Bunny's lap for the very first time. He is holding onto and reaching for toys, made his first trip to the zoo, took his first over night trip to visit his Great Grandmother in TN, and rolled over from his back to his belly for the first time, you would have thought he hung the moon the way we reacted, but to us everything he does is great!

Month 2 Highlights

This month he weighed in at 10 lbs even and 22 inches long. This month he went to his first birthday party (his cousin Tanner), slept in his crib for the very first time, his Great Aunt Norma came to visit, and he laughed out loud for the first time at Mommy. His personality is blooming, oh how he fills my heart with joy! I look forward to that smile every morning...how on earth did I ever exist without him. I feel so blessed that God has not only given me the gift of being a mommy, but a mommy to Clayton.

Month 1

Month 1 highlights...Clayton had his first outing to Uncle Brian and Aunt Kim's for a Super Bowl Party. Uncle Brian's favorite team, The Steelers, won!!! Clayton also had a 3 week Dr. visit and weighed in at 7 lbs 1 ounce and 19 3/4 inches long. He began to smile intentionally and coo this month. That smile of his just melts my heart. Here are some photos from this month.

First few weeks home

We brought Clayton home on January 16th at 10PM. The first week Clayton was home from the hospital we had 3 inches of snow! The following week, we had a terrible ice storm and we were out of power for 24 hours with a brand new baby...we were lucky though...many people were out for weeks. He had a two week Dr. appt. this month on January 2oth and weighed in at
6 lbs 2 ounces. We had many visitors including his Great Grandmother Mullins shown above from TN. Here are some photos from the first month as well as some of his newborn professional pictures.

The Beginning

I have been wanting to do this for awhile, but I am just getting around to it. So, I am going to start from the beginning and go from there! I went to my Dr. appt. on January 13th for the routine check up and Dr. Ramsey decided that we should go ahead and induce labor because of low fluid...so Scott and I packed our bags and headed off to the hospital with great anticipation of meeting our son. Dr. Ramsey broke my water at 9 AM and started the induction...12 hours later became the happiest moment of my life. On January 14th, our beautiful son was born at 9:03 pm...Clayton James Mullins 6 lbs 6 ounces and 18 3/4 inches long. The doctor placed him on my chest and as tears streamed down my face I felt an overwhelming amount of love...love like I had never known before. I wanted to hold onto him and never let go. Clayton's middle name was given to him in honor of his grandfather "Pops" and my father...the greatest man I have ever known (along with my husband)! Clayton is such a blessing and has brought so much joy to our lives. I thank God everyday for sending him to us, and I am pretty sure my dad had a little something to do with sending him to us as well!
